Ram Dass Tape Organization which provides me with recent information on Ram Dass's health, recovery and recent lectures. to help everyone keep up to date. Now that Ram Dass recovery from his stroke is proceeding so well I will no longer be posting the emails to this site. However the first emails are posted here. From now on I will post information regarding Ram Dass' teaching schedule as I have the time. I will also add information about sites with information about Ram Dass or Neem Karoli Baba and their teachings. For now I will add this information here. If any of you know of a site which should be posted here let me know and I will visit and add it if I feel it is appropriate. I hope this is of assistance to the community. Namaste You can read a wonderful article by Sara Davidson in the New York Times Magazine about Ram Dass and how he is responding to his stroke here. It was still available on line as September 13, 2000. You will be required to sign in and choose a password to access this article but it is free and the process is easy. The article is well worth the time. Ram Dass' new book "Still Here : Embracing Aging, Changing, and Dying" has been released!
Please remember that you may be able to acquire this book at a cheaper price at one of the larger book companies. However, if you order from RamDasstapes.org then you will be helping to defray Ram Dass' ongoing medical costs, the costs of keeping the Ram Dass Tape Library going and the costs of travelling to lectures. Yes, there are donations but they far from cover his medical expenses. When Ram Dass had the stroke, he had no insurance. So, with that in mind it would be a great act of service to pay the cover price. This would do you good and it will help out the Tape Library and most especially, Ram Dass. The Schedule I attempt to keep this up to date. However, the most current information will always be found at the RamDasstapes.org site. When you get there click on the "Shedule Button" under Ram Dass on the top left. Date: Sunday April 4, 1999 From: Bob Hi Everyone! ~ Namaste' Tuesday, April 6th is Ram Dass' 68th birthday!!! There is Now a NEW "health update" on Ram Dass, along with some upcoming events planned. For New Update, please go to the 'health update', listed under the heading, "Ram Dass" at http://ramdasstapes.org. Thanks!!
Happy Birthday, Ram Dass!!! For those celebrating Easter ... have a Happy, Pleasant Day!! Peace and Love, Bob ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Date: Thursday March 4, 1999 From: Bob Great News: I finally heard back from Marlene, who had been with Ram Dass as he is away at this time receiving hyperbaric oxygen treatments. There is now a current update from Marlene concerning the recent La Jolla, CA. lecture that Ram Dass gave along with the first picture out there of Ram Dass WALKING!!!!
Included also is an e-mail I received today from an attendant at the lecture (Kathleen Murphy). Both reports are overwhelmingly convincing of Ram Dass' healthuts and his even deeper insight! (For those who were involved in the many meditation/prayer circles can now delight in the karma of such deep heartsongs). Go to: http://ramdasstapes.org and then select "Ram Dass" from the menu and go to "Current Announcements" [to read both reports]. Peace and Love, Bob ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Date: Thursday, February 18, 1999 From: Marlene We're back from La Jolla. Had a WONDERFUL time down there. Ram Dass gave a talk at the Inner Directions conference. Krishna Das was scheduled to open the conference with some kirtan, followed by Ram Dass' talk -- but instead, they went on stage together, and did a kind of "duet": first Ram Dass would talk for awhile, then Krishna Das would sing for awhile, then Ram Dass would talk again. It turned out to be a splendid format for Ram Dass -- gave him periods of time when he could pause and regroup his thoughts. His speaking was very good, less of the "word searching" ... unquestionably the best talk he's given since his stroke. What do you think: should I do up a little "show and tell" report for the troops that you can put on the website? web sitea picture of him ... WALKING! ... which I'll get developed today. Ram Dass is talking about doing an evening (maybe more than one) with Krishna Das in San Francisco. Wouldn't that be great? I'll keep you posted. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Date: Tuesday, January 26, 1999 From: Bob There has been a change in a lecture date, as follows: The CURRENT listing on the site (under 'Enents') is: February 21, 1999 ... Talk at the 9AM and 11AM services at the First Church of Religious Science, 5000 Clarewood Drive, Oakland, CA. For details call 510-547-1979. The ONLY CHANGE is the DATE. It will change from February 21st to March 21st. Everything else remains the same. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Date: Sunday, January 3, 1999 From: Bob After I had sent out that last e-mail, Marlene (Ram Dass' secretary) contacted me and asked that I take over the Tape Library. HERE I've spent the last couple weeks updating and fixing things there. There are new tapes and categories and a new update on the health status of Ram Dass. Marlene also sent me a tape from sometime in this past year, where Ram Dass did an interview. I was absolutely Amazed at how well Ram Dass is talking!!! You really should hear! I expected the usual complications that accompany a major stroke. His speech therapist and his will and God's grace can be heard in his voice. Amazing! When you have time, check it out and if you haven't filled out the mailing list form (snail mail from the Hanuman Foundation), please do so. Also, those who Did fill it out in '98 may have never gone through, so you'll need to fill out the form again, especially if you haven't received the newsletter from the Hanuman Foundation. NOTE: For anyone who would like to review the health updates from the time of Ram Dass' stroke to date Bob Watson has posted them on his site. |
