24-Hours of Peace January 1, 1999 The 24-Hours of Peace project offers an excellent means for all to participate. It requires no contribution, protest, march or other outward activity. Only quiet, reverent reflection & the conscious sharing of inner peace. We can make a remarkable difference by simply being centered and experiencing peace.

knot Ways you can Help

I have included links to organization of which I am a member here, and organizations which relate specifically to wolves or the environment here. The links below are to organizations who, in more general terms, are working to make our world a better place to live.
Reality Check

"If we could shrink the entire Earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people. With all existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look like this:
  • There would be 57 Asians, 21 Europeans, 14 from the Western Hemisphere (North and South), and 8 Africans.
  • 51 would be female; 49 would be male
  • 70 would be other than white; 30 white.
  • 70 would be non-Christian; 30 Christian.
  • 50% of the entire world's wealth would be in the hands of only 6 people and all 6 would be citizens of the United States.
  • 80 would live in substandard housing.
  • 70 would be unable to read.
  • 50 would suffer from malnutrition.
  • 1 would be near death, 1 would be near giving birth
  • Only 1 would have a college education.
  • No one would own a computer as yet.
When one considers our world from such an incredibly compressed perspective, the need for both tolerance and understanding becomes very apparent."

Pathways To Peace

"Pathways To Peace is an international not-for-profit peace building, educational, and consulting organization. The mission of Pathways To Peace is threefold:
  • to build cooperation by uniting and enhancing the strengths of existing organizations and programs along eight paths to peace;
  • to expand the comprehension and expression of PEACE and peace building practices at all levels;
  • to contribute, through consultation and direct participation, to the evolving role of the United Nations and to citizens worldwide participation in the International Day of Peace (World Peace Day).

'Peace', as it is defined by Pathways To Peace, is both an innate state of being and a dynamic, evolutionary process. Peace begins with ourselves, living in harmony with one another and the Earth. Pathways To Peace's operating principle-in-action is:
  • Acting in concert, we do make a difference in the quality of our lives, our institutions, our environment and our planetary future.
  • Through cooperation, we manifest the essential spirit that unites us amidst our diverse ways.

At Pathways To Peace, our operating principle states that: Acting in concert, we do make a difference in the quality of our lives, our institutions, our environment and our planetary future. Through cooperation, we manifest the essential spirit that unites us amidst our diverse ways."

Lightshift
LightShift

"At 11:59 PM on December 31st of 1999, all of the calendrical cycles of day, month, year, decade, century, and millennium will shift in a hopeful moment. The energy of a thousand New Year's Eves will be amplified in the hearts and minds of all the peoples of planet Earth. A rare opportunity presents itself for humanity to band together in the quantum numbers necessary to create a powerful circuit of light to greet the dawn of the new millennium. We feel that this unified circuit has the potential of shifting the collective consciousness to a higher octave and transforming the course of history in a more positive direction. We invite you to be part of this radiant millennial moment -- hopefully, the most powerful and positive shift in human history. And we encourage and welcome any and all groups with a similar vision to lay aside little differences and join together in this effort. For together, we are the LightShift.....and the hope of the future. "

Gandhi / King Non Violence

"Both Gandhiji and Martin Luther King are inspiring examples of the power and truth of nonviolence and the actions that arise from them. They not only embraced nonviolence in principle, but implemented it in action. Both gave their lives for this precious vision. This Season for Nonviolence is a very good tool to remind us of their witness, but also of the large unfinished work we have together in transforming awareness on our planet."   His Holiness, The Dalai Lama

"A Season for Nonviolence is a globally unified grassroots movement in commemoration of the 50th and 30th Memorial Anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to highlight and honor the organizations, programs and initiatives that are making our communities more peaceful.

Our purpose is to create an awareness of nonviolent principles and practice as a powerful way to heal, transform and empower our lives and communities.

Through an educational and community action campaign, we are honoring those who are using nonviolence to build a community that honors the dignity and worth of every human being.

We are demonstrating that every person can move the world in the direction of peace through their daily nonviolent choice and action.

May Peace Prevail On Earth!"
