A relationship with a dog is an incredible opportunity for us to contact a being of great potential love and loyalty. Dogs are descended from Wolves who mate for life and whose greatest joy is in their offspring. The loyalty and committment of a dog to his master can be unparalleled. The opportunity for inter-species communication which is open to us in our relationship with a dog is a blessing of which we should take advantage.

If we pay attention to what really happens in the context of a relationship with a dog, we'll discover something new both about ourselves and life. Such a discovery can only prove to be enriching.
Raven This is Raven, the newest member of our family. She is incredibly kind and intelligent. She was born in a den that her mother dug in the backyard and didn't leave it for about 3 weeks. When she came out into the world she lived outside for the most part with her mother, her grandmother and her litter mates. She came to live with us when she was about 9 weeks old and has been a wonder to us. Unlike many dogs who spend the first part of their lives in a kennel she knows and responds to traditional pack signals. Of course, as well as us learning "dog" she is learning English and we are all enjoying ourselves immensely.
